March is Brain Injury Awareness Month! To celebrate and help spread the word, I’ll be posting a different resource every day all month. Today’s book is Successfully Surviving a Brain Injury: A Family Guidebook, from the Emergency Room to Selecting a Rehabilitation Facility by Garry Prowe.
Someone you love has suffered a brain injury. The doctors cannot yet make a prognosis. You’ve been told that every brain injury is unique and unpredictable, to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. What do you do now? Since 1997, when Garry Prowe’s wife sustained a severe brain injury in a car crash, he has studied how people recover from serious brain injuries and live purposeful lives. This book is a result of his research and personal experiences as Jessica’s caregiver, and also of the shared expertise of a panel of more than 300 people with brain injury, caregivers, family members, and medical professionals. All profits are donated to brain injury organizations in the U.S. and Canada.
